FEDERICO BONELLI
Federico Bonelli Grow up in a small town in northern Italy' Piemonte, where he started taking ballet classes. At the age of fourteen he joined the Turin Dance Academy, where he studied with both Italian and Cuban teachers.
While in school he participated in various competitions: his awards include a silver medal in Havana Dance Competition, Cuba, first price at the Rieti International Ballet Competition, Italy, and a Prix de Lausanne scholarship.
In 1996, following the Lausanne competition, he joined the Zurich Ballet where he was promoted to soloist a year later. In Zurich he danced various choreographies from the director Heinz Spoerli including Romeo and roles of the classical repertoire like Albrecht in Giselle.
In 1999 he joined the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam and was promoted principal in 2002. In Holland Federico's repertoire included many different styles and choreographers including: The sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, La Sylphide; Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Symphony in C, Serenade, Rubies, Duo Concertant by Balanchine; Adagio Hammerklavier, Black Cake, Sarcasmen by Van Manen; In the Middle, The Vertiginous Trill of Exactitude, Herman Schmerman by Forsythe; Pierrot Lunaire by Tetley and Works from Massine and Robbins.
In 2003 he Joined the Royal Ballet as a principal dancer where he danced the classical repertoire including Swan Lake, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, La Sylphide, The Nutcracker as well as Ashton's works in Marguerite and Armand, Cinderella, Sylvia, Daphnis and Chloe, Ondine, Symphonic Variations and McMillan's Romeo and Juliet, Manon and Requiem. He also performed Apollon Musagete, Theme and Variation, Four Temperaments, Ballet Imperial and Agon by Balanchine, Lensky in Cranko's Onegin, DGV, Polyphonia and Pavane by Christopher Wheeldon, Tombeaux by David Bintley.
Federico has participated in Performances and Galas around the world. In 2005 he was awarded the Positano Prix for Ballet and in 2007 he was nominated for the "Best Male Dancer" award by the National Dance Awards Critic' Circle.
